JOLLY 2026

Almost two weeks after our first significant snow/sleet event in several years much of what remains on the ground is being referred to as ‘snowcrete’. JOLLY DOLPHIN’s winter lay-up in the water at her home berth to keep the 1-3/4″ planking from drying out. Secured at the dock there is little impact.

And we get the de-icing circulator in the water to keep the ice from building up around the hull, as do the neighbors upstream.

However the two week arctic grip on the Mid-Atlantic has kept temperatures below freezing and even the brackish water that finds its way aboard freezes. These bilge photos show the remains of surface ice after the bilge pump discharge lines have thawed and the bilge water has receded to normal levels.
